During my time at Vigil, I have learned a considerable amount about MAXScript.
I have written dozens of scripts varying greatly in purpose and scope.
This has also included understanding, modifying, and (when necessary) rewriting existing scripts, as well as coordinating with other tech artists and programmers on larger tasks.
I am not currently able to share these scripts as they are property of THQ, however they include
tools for easily setting up Maxfiles to work with the character customization system,
setting up animation files,
setting up analyzing and fixing environment assets,
material/shader conversion and remapping,
parsing and evaluating data on disk to use for validation within Max,
a customizable batch tool,
and more.
While working at XL Games, various tasks lead to the need for MEL scripts to be written.
We were using the Collada interchange file format, which was constantly in development, therefore requiring all our assets to be modified or re-exported quite often.
This resuired writing a conversion script, as well as a batching tool to automate running scripts on multiple files.
I very much enjoy scripting and look forward to more opportunities to further automate, or make possible, tasks for both art and production pipelines.
The scripts shown were written to use Maya 7.0 and ColladaMaya_301
