Low polygon character modeling is a challenge of game development I especially enjoy. Pushing the limits, finding a balance between optimization, quality, new techniques and the power of the game engine.
Starting with my early work on Turok 2 for the N64 I was never content to give the appearance that I was within the limits of the console and I treat every project as a new challenge to do what should not be possible.
Another rewarding challenge was making the Sims optimized enough to accommodate 20 characters onscreen, yet keeping them detailed enough to hold up the scrutiny of Create-A-Sim mode, or even magazine covers.
The high quality of Fear & Respect was possible due to intelligent management of detail using LODs manually optimized for optimum visual effect.
